United we stand, together we fall

The last I noted, I lived in the United States of America. United, that says a lot. United can be defined as “joined together politically”, yet it seems to me that we are everything but United here. Lets’ take for example the legalization of recreational marijuana.

It’s OK for You but Not You

In the states of Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Colorado if you are over the age of 21, you can legally buy, possess and enjoy the use of marijuana in those states. On the other side however if you are in any of the other 46 states and possess, buy, sell or enjoy cannabis it is likely that if caught you will be somehow punished. This just is not right. I would understand if the states were not united and that they were all governed independently but this is not the case.

Judicial Jokes

We have a very extensive judicial system in place to create, vet and manage the laws and regulations that are in place in this nation. Despite this there are laws in some states that still criminalize people for smoking the herb. However if you did the same thing in an alternate location it would be completely legal and could potentially be the greatest time of your life.

Here is a Brown Bag for Your Beer That We sold You as You Pay For Gas

This is simply ridiculous if you ask me. Shouldn’t it be all or nothing across the board? Please name me 1 bad thing about marijuana? Oh yeah, I forgot there is that one thing. What is it you may ask? Well it is that you will need to go to the grocery store because you are going to need some more munchies!Since the first documented use of marijuana in history there have been absolutely no deaths attributed to Marijuana. If you look at alcohol which is completely legal for adults over 21 it is accountable for over 29,000 deaths each year.

One Love, One Heart, Lets Get Together and Feel Alright

Bob Marley said it best when he stated “Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.”I am not asking that we get rid of alcohol. I am simply stating that if we are OK with it killing over 29,000 people a year, then I think we should have enough sense to at least legalize something that doesn’t kill anyone. Not to mention it also has medical benefits to provide our citizens as well!

Stuck in The Past

The year is 2015 and we have come a long way since the era of “Reefer Madness” and all the lies it told. We now know the truth and it is time something is done about it at the national level. If not legalize it would it be too much to at least decriminalize it for grown adults age 21 years and older for purchase like alcohol? Why is it that our nation’s leaders,   prefer to sit back and allow this prohibition on marijuana to continue? Is there something for us to gain and for them to lose by allowing access to this herb legally? It really makes you question the bigger picture.
